This note is about the book “Heart Speak: A Visual Interpretation of Let Your Life Speak” by Sherrill A. Knezel.

This book was the natural companion to Let Your Life Speak . It is a flip book with the author’s reflections. Every quote from the original book has a sketchnote that probably makes the quote more sticky. It is accompanied by the author’s reflection on the facing page, ending with a prompt to the reader. In a sense, this book invites the reader into the author’s own journal and then encourages the reader to pause, think and reflect on the prompt. For someone like me who loved Parker Palmer’s Let Your Life Speak , this book was a fantastic revisit of all its important ideas. Here is a sample pair from the book, along with the author’s note.

What brings me deep gladness is creating, teaching, deep listening, collaboration, and drawing out conversations to increase connection and clarity between humans. When I stumbled on the field of graphic recording so many of these things came together for me, and I realized it was something I needed to pursue. Using images and text to uplift and amplify generative and transformational work being done to build community brings me joy.
